Seanad Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 26 Oct 1994

Vol. 141 No. 4

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Taylor-Quinn that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications to outline the action the Government proposes to take to rectify the reduction of 8 per cent in traffic through Shannon Airport in the first nine months of this year; and the Government's view of the economic impact of this trend in the west and mid-west region.

I have also received notice from Senator Finneran of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to urgently clarify the situation regarding the provision of alternative accommodation in Castlerea, Country Roscommon, for the patients in St. Patrick's Hospital following the Government decision to locate a prison in that hospital.

I have also received notice from Senator Honan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications to clarify the present position of the new peat fired station in the midlands as outlined in the national plan.

I regard the matters raised as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senators Taylor-Quinn and Finneran's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Honan may give notice on another day of the matter she wishes to raise.
