Vol. 145 No. 7

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Mooney that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to indicate whether the Irish Government was consulted by the European Commission on the establishment of the Eurathlon Programme and if she agrees that the requirements of at least three member states participating should be reduced to two in order to permit the development of Irish sport, especially our national games.

I have received notice from Senator Cassidy on the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Defence to maintain Columb Barracks, Mullingar, County Westmeath, at its present staffing level and if he will give an assurance to the people of the midlands that this level will be maintained.

I have received notice from Senator Kelleher on the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to provide adequate resources for the Southern Health Board to ensure proper security at psychiatric hospitals.

I have received notice from Senator Burke on the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment to provide funding for a new sewerage scheme for Belcarra, County Mayo.

I regard the matters raised as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senators Mooney's and Cassidy's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
