Seanad Éireann debate -
Thursday, 1 Feb 1996

Vol. 146 No. 2

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Neville that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to ensure that the proposed extension to replace prefabricated classrooms at Pallaskenry national school, County Limerick, is constructed in 1996.

I have also received notice from Senator Daly on the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to provide funding this year for the second phase building programme at Kilrush community school, County Clare; and when work will commence.

I have also received notice from Senator Finneran on the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment to sanction and provide funds for a public sewerage scheme in the villages of Ballintubber and Cloonfad in County Roscommon.

I have also received notice from Senator Henry on the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Enterprise and Employment to ensure that the health and safety regulations are enforced in places of public entertainment, particularly the provision of basic sanitary services.

I have also received notice from Senator Fahey on the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice to give details of complaints against gardaí in Galway which are made to the Garda Complaints Commission and the number of complaints which have been successful.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Neville, Daly, Finneran and Henry as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Neville's and Senator Daly's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business.

I regret that I have had to rule the matter raised by Senator Fahey as not suitable for discussion on the Adjournment on the grounds of lack of ministerial responsibility.
