Seanad Éireann debate -
Thursday, 22 Feb 1996

Vol. 146 No. 9

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Hayes that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to outline his response to recent research which has made a connection between health and radioactivity from ESB overhead power-lines in residential areas.

I have also received notice from Senator McGennis of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice to make a statement regarding the proposed new Garda station at Blanchardstown, with specific reference to the immediate availability of the Clonmel site, bearing in mind that the Garda are threatening to withdraw from Blanchardstown in March.

I have also received notice from Senator Neville of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications to outline the Government's actions in response to the nuclear incident that occurred in the vitrification plant at Sellafield on 2 February 1996.

I regard the matters as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Hayes's and Senator McGennis's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Neville may give notice on another day of the matter he wishes to raise.
