Seanad Éireann debate -
Thursday, 5 Dec 1996

Vol. 149 No. 12

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Henry that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Foreign Affairs to endorse the work of the international criminal tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in the prosecution of rape as a war crime.

I have also received notice from Senator Finneran of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to make a statement on the prevalence of MRSA in Irish hospitals.

I have also received notice from Senator Rory Kiely of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry to guarantee that beef prices will be maintained or improved in the spring of 1997 thereby ensuring that farmers who winter fatten cattle will not be disadvantaged financially.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Henry's and Senator Finneran's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Kiely may give notice on another day of the matter he wishes to raise.
