Vol. 152 No. 15

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator McGowan that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Marine and Natural Resources to make a statement on the returns for investment in the forestry industry.

I have also received notice from Senator Cregan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Marine and Natural Resources to make a full, comprehensive and factual statement in relation to the recent spillage from Whitegate refinery.

I have also received notice from Senator Avril Doyle of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Social, Community and Family Affairs to review eligibility for the Christmas bonus for certain categories of social welfare recipients, particularly for those who have recently completed CE schemes.

I have also received notice from Senator Costello of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to take urgent measures to reduce the hospital waiting lists.

I have also received notice from Senator O'Meara of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to provide funding for a full-time rehabilitation worker in Tipperary North to meet the needs of the blind in that county.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator McGowan's and Senator Cregan's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Doyle, Senator Costello and Senator O'Meara may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
