Seanad Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 23 Jun 1999

Vol. 159 No. 19

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Mooney that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to direct the Conty Leitrim task force to take immediate action to obtain an alternative industry for Leitrim Foods Limited at Drumshanbo, County Leitrim, which has announced its imminent closure with a loss of 50 jobs.

I have also received noted from Senator Henry of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Finance to abandon the present unjust medical criteria under which people are assessed under the Disabled Drivers and Disabled Passengers (Tax Concessions) Regulations, 1994, and introduce a fair graded mobility allowance.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and they will be taken at the conclusion of business.
