Seanad Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 20 Oct 1999

Vol. 160 No. 10

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator O'Meara that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to provide a place in residential care for an 18 year old (details supplied) who has not attended school for some time now.

I have also received notice from Senator Costello of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to outline the criteria needed for appointing classroom assistants to permanent full-time positions, to list the number of educational institutions where such full-time positions have been filled, and whether it is intended to make such an appointment to three national schools in the Navan Road area (details supplied).

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and they will be taken at the conclusion of business.

With the permission of the House, I propose the suspension of the House until 12 o'clock to allow the Whips of both Houses to convene, due to the death of the former Taoiseach, Jack Lynch.

Is that agreed? Agreed.

Sitting suspended at 11.10 a.m. and resumed at 12 noon.
