Seanad Éireann debate -
Wednesday, 24 Nov 1999

Vol. 161 No. 5

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Joe Doyle that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment and Local Government to sanction as a matter of urgency the major traffic proposals submitted by Dublin Corporation.

I have also received notice from Senator Henry of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to appoint a remedial teacher to St. Brigid's primary school, Haddington Road, Dublin 4, in view of the high number of children in this school who suffer social disadvantage.

I have also received notice from Senator O'Meara of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health and Children to revoke Statutory Instrument 271/99, which will make St. John's wort and other herbal remedies available only on prescription from 1 January 2000.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Doyle's and Henry's matters and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator O'Meara may give notice on another day of the matter she wishes to raise.
