I move:
That Seanad Éireann approves the exercise by the State of the option, provided by Article 3 of the fourth Protocol set out in the Treaty of Amsterdam, to notify the President of the Council that it wishes to take part in the adoption and application of the following proposed measures:
a proposal for a Council Decision concerning the conclusion of an agreement between the European Community and the Republic of Iceland and the Kingdom of Norway concerning the criteria and mechanisms for establishing the State responsible for examining a request for asylum lodged in a member State or Iceland or Norway.
A copy of which proposed measure was laid before Seanad Éireann on 9th February, 2001.
