Wednesday, 30 May 2001

Vol. 166 No. 19

Business of Seanad.

I have received notice from Senator Jackman that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to assign extra Garda resources to Limerick, including the establishment of a Garda station in Castletroy.

I have also received notice from Senator Ó Fearghail of the following matter:

To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if in light of the imminent closure of the Peerless Rug plant, in Athy, County Kildare, with the loss of 65 jobs, she will consider establishing a special task force to promote job creation in the area.

I have also received notice from Senator Rory Kiely of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture and Food to ensure that cattle movement permits are issued by return of post on receipt of applications.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and they will be taken at the conclusion of business.
