Gnó an tSeanaid - Business of Seanad

I have received notice from the following Senators that they propose to raise the following matters:Senators Robbie Gallagher and Niall Blaney - The need for the Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media to make a statement on the opening this year of the sports capital programme to new applicants. Senator Emer Currie - The need for the Minister for Education to make a statement on the need for a new secondary school in Tyrrelstown, Dublin 15.Senator Róisín Garvey - The need for the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage to provide an update on the Environmental Protection Agency, EPA, report on urban wastewater treatment.Senator Victor Boyhan - The need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine to make a statement on the number of forestry planting licences granted from 1 January 2023 to date; and to confirm the status of the application for state aid approval to the EU Commission for the national forestry programme.Senator Lynn Boylan - The need for the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications to make a statement on the need for an liquefied natural gas terminal for security of supply.Senator Maria Byrne - The need for the Minister for Education to provide an update on the application for an extension by Catherine McCauley School, Limerick.Senator Tim Lombard - The need for the Minister for Transport to provide an update on engagement with Cork County Council on long-term plans to alleviate traffic congestion in Kinsale town.Senator Mary Seery Kearney - The need for the Minister for Justice to make a statement on the adequacy of the oversight of cash for gold outlets.Senator Fintan Warfield - The need for the Minister for Public Expenditure, National Development Plan Delivery and Reform to introduce a designated match-funding facility for European programmes. Of the matters raised by the Senators suitable for discussion, I have selected Senators Robbie Gallagher and Niall Blaney, who are sharing their time, Emer Currie, Róisín Garvey and Victor Boyhan and they will be taken now. I regret that I had to rule out of order the matter raised by Senator Tim Lombard on the ground that the Minister has no official responsibility in the matter. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters that they wish to raise.
