Vol. 293 No. 13

Gnó an tSeanaid - Business of Seanad

I have received notice from the following Senators that they propose to raise the following matters:Senator John McGahon - The need for the Minister for Justice to make a statement on the operation of Article K.3(2)(b) of the Treaty of the EU concerning travel facilities for school pupils from third countries resident in a member state.Senator Fiona O'Loughlin - The need for the Tánaiste and Minister for Defence to make a statement on plans to secure the long-term viability and heritage status of the Curragh plains in County Kildare.Senator Tim Lombard - The need for the Minister for Education to make a statement on the provision of a special school in west Cork to provide appropriate education for pupils with specific needs which cannot be met in mainstream schools.Senator Mary Fitzpatrick - The need for the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage to provide funding for the creation of an international centre of excellence for uilleann piping on Henrietta Street in Dublin 1. Senator John Cummins - The need for the Minister for Education to provide sufficient places for students with additional needs in Tramore, County Waterford.Senator Malcolm Byrne - The need for the Minister for Health to make a statement on the total cost of the cyberattack on the HSE in May 2021 and on the actions taken to date to prevent such a recurrence in the HSE and agencies under his remit.Senator Martin Conway - The need for the Minister for Health to provide additional physiotherapists in each of the CMO areas to ensure MS Ireland can provide the necessary supports to service users with multiple sclerosis or Parkinson's disease.Senator Emer Currie - The need for the Minister for Transport to make a statement on the summer car parking plan for Dublin Airport.Of the matters raised by the Senators suitable for discussion, I have selected Senators John McGahon, Fiona O'Loughlin, Tim Lombard and Mary Fitzpatrick and they will be taken now. I regret that I have had to rule out of order the matter raised by Senator Currie on the ground that the Minister has no official responsibility in the matter. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
