I welcome to the Distinguished Visitors Gallery the ambassador for Croatia, Mr. Davor Vidiš, who joins us on the occasion of his country's national day. On behalf of the Members of the House, I am delighted to take this opportunity to congratulate Croatia and its people on the celebration of its Statehood Day. It commemorates the country's first multi-party parliament, which was established 33 years ago, in 1990. It is a wonderful celebration and event. I thank the Croatian community in Ireland, which numbers 20,000 or so people. They are making a valuable contribution to our country through a variety of roles in various places. Their contribution is immense. I welcome the ambassador and hope he enjoys the celebrations. We look forward to a continued friendship between Ireland and Croatia.
