Vol. 295 No. 14

Gnó an tSeanaid - Business of Seanad

I have received notice from the following Senators that they propose to raise the following matters:

Senator Malcolm Byrne - The need for the Minister for Health to outline the current and anticipated costs of the national children's hospital and the measures in place to ensure that similar cost overruns do not occur at the planned national maternity hospital.

Senator Micheál Carrigy - The need for the Minister of State with special responsibility for disability to make a statement on the establishment of a national treatment purchase fund to provide financial support for parents sourcing therapies and assessments of need privately.

Senator Erin McGreehan - The need for the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth to increase investment in youth work so that all areas have access to youth clubs.

Senator Tim Lombard - The need for the Minister for Education to provide an update on the implementation of additional measures to accommodate the students who have no school transport this year.

Senator Niall Blaney - The need for the Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs to make a statement on the UK Government's Northern Ireland Troubles (Legacy and Reconciliation) Act 2023.

Senator Seán Kyne - The need for the Minister for Transport to liaise with the National Transport Authority on increasing flexibility on bus pickup and drop-off stops along Transport for Ireland Local Link services.

Senator Fiona O'Loughlin - The need for the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth to make a statement on the allocation of The Gables, Newbridge, County Kildare, as a home for up to 100 international protection applicants.

Senator Robbie Gallagher - The need for the Minister of State with responsibility for the Office of Public Works to make a statement on the allocations of funding under the climate adaptation scheme in light of the serious flooding issue in Donaghmoyne, County Monaghan.

Senator Vincent P. Martin - The need for the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage to make a statement on supporting the needs and modern requirements of the houseboat canal communities in County Kildare and throughout Ireland.

Of the matters raised by the Senators that are suitable for discussion, I have selected those raised by Senators Malcolm Byrne, Carrigy, McGreehan and Lombard and they will be taken now. I regret that I had to rule out of order the matters raised by Senators Kyne and Martin on the ground that the relevant Minister has no official responsibility in the matter. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
