Vol. 299 No. 5

Gnó an tSeanaid - Business of Seanad

I have received notice from the following Senators that they propose to raise the following matters:

Senator Gerry Horkan - The need for the Minister for Health to include the shingles vaccination in the national immunisation programme and to outline the estimated funding required to do this on an annual basis.

Senator Seán Kyne - The need for the Minister for Health to make a statement on the progress of plans for the emergency department buildings, new laboratories and cancer care centre at University Hospital Galway.

Senator Martin Conway - The need for the Minister for Health to outline when a dialysis service will be operational in Ennis.

Senator Lisa Chambers - The need for the Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media to make a statement on the financial supports to be made available to assist tourism businesses in County Mayo that have experienced a drop in footfall and revenue due to the reduction in tourist accommodation available in the county as a result of it being used for humanitarian purposes.

Senator Garret Ahearn - The need for the Minister for Environment, Climate and Communications to make a statement on the measures Inland Fisheries Ireland take to patrol the River Suir from illegal fishing; the number of prosecutions for illegal fishing in the river in the past ten years; the number of calls received through the Inland Fisheries helpline; and the amount of money raised each year through the conservation fund and a breakdown of that spend per region.

Senator Aidan Davitt - The need for the Minister for Finance to make a statement on the disparity between public and private pensions, the disparity between defined benefit and defined contribution pension schemes, and the different limits applicable to both.

Senator Robbie Gallagher - The need for the Minister for Finance to ensure that all homeowners have the same rights and protections, including those whose loans are with vulture funds.

Senator Tim Lombard - The need for the Minister for Transport to provide an update on the progress of phase 2 of the N71 Bandon southern relief road extension.

The matters raised by the Senators are suitable for discussion. I have selected Senators Horkan, Kyne, Conway, Chambers, Ahearn and Davitt and they will be taken now. All other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.

I welcome the Minister of State, Deputy Heydon, to the House.
