I move amendment No. 17:

In page 8, paragraph (a), lines 27 and 28, to delete "by the Garda Síochána as soon as may be" and substitute "as soon as may be the Garda Síochána".

I do not know if the Minister agrees that this wording is more acceptable or if she has any objection to it. It follows the wording used elsewhere in the Bill.

Like amendments Nos. 9, 10, 11 and 13 we do not accept it is inconsistent with the wording elsewhere in the Bill, but I am prepared to talk to the parliamentary draftsman about what Deputy Mitchell proposes between now and Report Stage. If there are inconsistencies, I will accept the amendment at that stage.
