Special Committee Companies Bill, 1962 debate -
Wednesday, 10 Apr 1963

SECTION 327.

Question proposed: " That Section 327 stand part of the Bill."

This is the same as Sections 248 and 13 of the Act of 1908.

On a matter of explanation, is there going to be any difference between the method of transferring shares of a company that is registered under the Joint Stock Companies Acts and a company registered under this Act, or will they both be the same?

The effect of the section is to give them the right to transfer their shares in the same way as companies registered under this Act. The section removes certain restrictions in this respect which were imposed on these old companies more than 100 years ago and puts them on the same footing as modern companies. But, of course, it is not just being introduced now; the provision has been there for many years.

There will not be any difference now between a company registered under this Act and a company registered under the old Act?

Question put and agreed to.
