Special Committee Legitimacy Bill, 1929 debate -
Wednesday, 3 Dec 1930

SECTION 9.

* * * *
(3) This section does not apply to or affect the right of any person to take by purchase or descent any entailed interest in real or personal property.

I move amendment 9:—

In sub-section (3), page 4, lines 34 and 35, to delete the words " any entailed interest in real or personal " and substitute the words " an estate in tail in real."

In the English Real Property Act of 1925, which does not apply to this country, a new term of Art was invented. That is now in use in English legislation but it cannot be used in this country. We have to use the old term because the English Act does not apply.

Amendment agreed to.
Section 9, as amended, agreed to.
