SECTION 117.

PART IV.
Regulation of Prices of Pigs and Carcases.
In this Part of this Act—
the expression " factory-purchased pig " means a pig delivered at licensed premises or premises registered in the register of minor curers upon terms that the price of such pig is to be determined after slaughter;
the expression " non-factory-purchased pig " means a pig purchased upon terms which do not constitute such pig a factory-purchased pig;
the expression " authorised officer of the Pigs Marketing Board " means a person authorised in writing by the Pigs Marketing Board to exercise the powers conferred on an authorised officer of the Pigs Marketing Board by this Part of this Act;
the word " prescribed " means prescribed by regulations made by the Pigs Marketing Board under this Part of this Act.

There are a number of amendments relating to Sections 118 and 120 which are, more or less, overlapping. They are in the names of Deputies Belton, Dillon and McGovern. Deputy Dillon's amendment increases the membership of the Board to eight and inserts a provision for the election of the extra member by pig dealers resident in Saorstát Eireann. Deputy Belton's amendment increases the membership to eight, reduces the representation of the Bacon Board thereon to one and increases the representation of the producers to six providing at the same time for their election by the organised pig producers. Deputy McGovern's amendment does not interfere with the size or composition of the Board but provides for the election of the three producer representatives from three ascertained pig producing areas, instead of Ministerial nomination. It is suggested that the ultimate size of the Board be not decided until the major questions have been dealt with and accordingly consideration of Section 118 should be postponed until Section 120 has been dealt with. Decisions can then be taken as follows: (a) Deputy McGovern's proposal can be decided in principle on amendment No. 112; (b) Deputy Belton's amendment, No. 115, will give a decision on his scheme; and (c) Deputy Dillon's amendment, No. 116. If these three proposals are negatived all the amendments from No. 109 to No. 125 will fall. Section 118 can then be considered when Section 120 has been dealt with.

Section 118 will be postponed until Section 120 has been dealt with.

Section 119 agreed to.
