Questions (335)

Jack Wall

Question:

422 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government the position of funding by his Department to ensure the completion of road improvements at Archnagh, Athy, County Kildare, in view of the fact that a major architectural survey had to be undertaken and that extra funding had to be sought from the Department for such a survey; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The initial selection and prioritisation of projects to be funded from non-national road grants in County Kildare is a matter for Kildare County Council. My Department has provided funding for road improvements at Ardreigh, Athy, in recent years. However, Kildare County Council has not sought funding for this project in 2004. It is, however, open to the council to prioritise this project for funding under the EU co-financed specific improvement grant scheme in 2005 when applications are sought later this year by my Department.
