530 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason for the delay in giving approval to the ERHA for the appointment of a health care training officer in view of the fact that the authority have identified a suitable candidate following interviews in December 2003; when formal sanction will be given; and if he will make a statement on the matter. In January 2004, following the completion of the recruitment competition, sanction for the filling of the post was conveyed by my Department to the area chief executive of the East Coast Area Health Board, ECAHB. My Department has been informed by the ECAHB that subject to successful completion of final checks, an appointment to the post will be made shortly.
