91 Ms O. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason a person (details supplied) in Dublin 18 who suffers from long-term illness and needs 24 hour oxygen has been refused a refund for oxygen equipment under the drugs refund scheme. [12346/04]
View answerI presume the Deputy is referring to the drugs payment scheme, DPS, which replaced the drugs refund scheme and the drugs cost subsidisation scheme in 1999. As the provision of oxygen and oxygen equipment to persons with a DPS card is a matter for the relevant health authority, my Department has asked the chief executive officer of the Eastern Region Health Authority to investigate the position in this case and to reply directly to the Deputy.
