259 Mr. Kehoe asked the Minister for Education and Science if school transport will be provided to persons (details supplied) in County Carlow. [17392/04]
View answerThe family lives 1.4 miles from the service route and are considered to have a level of service within my Department's guidelines. As a rule primary school transport routes are planned so that, as far as possible, no eligible child will have more than 1.5 miles to travel to a pick-up point. Pupils living off the main route of a service are generally expected to make their own way or to be brought to convenient pick-up points along the main route.
Bus Éireann cannot extend the service as the proposed route is unsuitable for the vehicle operating the service.
