Written answers

The Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government does not provide grant aid to dogs and cats homes. Local authorities may provide assistance towards such facilities from their resources, at their own discretion. I understand that my colleague, the Minister for Agriculture and Food, operates a system of grant aid that has provided assistance in the past to animal welfare groups which provide sheltered accommodation for cats and dogs.
