Responsibility for the industrial relations machinery of the State belongs to another Minister. The management of industrial relations in Bord na Móna plc is a matter in the first instance for the company in association with its trade unions. I have not had discussions with workers or trade union representatives at the company concerning any threatened industrial action. The possibility of a prolonged strike in Bord na Móna is speculative at this stage and it would not be helpful for me to add to the speculation. As far as I am aware, there is limited industrial action in relation to the supplies of peat to the west Offaly plant. This plant is only in testing mode at present and is not expected to be fully operational until January 2005. The plant, therefore, has no material impact at present on the supply of electricity to the national electricity grid.
