197 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason the Irish Horse Board is not covered by the Freedom of Information Act 1997; the plans she has to review this; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [4472/05]
View answerThe Irish Horse Board Co-operative Society Limited, IHB, is a private body registered with the Registrar of Friendly Societies with a membership in excess of 12,500 people, who are mainly breeders of sport horses. While it is not a State body, and it has not heretofore been considered to be within the ambit of the Freedom of Information Acts, it does receive a significant proportion of its income from my Department. I have, therefore, asked my Department to consider whether at this juncture the IHB might be brought within the remit of the Freedom of Information Acts.
