202 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism if he will approve an application by a centre (details supplied) in County Longford under the grants capital programme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6068/05]
View answerThe national lottery funded sports capital programme, which is administered by the Department of Arts, Sport and Tourism, allocates funding to sporting and community organisations at local, regional and national level throughout the country. The programme is advertised on an annual basis. Applications for funding under the 2005 programme were invited in press advertisements on 5 and 6 December last. The closing date for the receipt of applications was 4 February 2005. All applications, including one from the club in question, are being evaluated against the programme's assessment criteria, which are outlined in the programme's guidelines, terms and conditions. I intend to announce the grant allocations under the programme as soon as possible after the assessment process has been completed.
