Question:

259 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Transport when work on the Dublin Port Tunnel will be complete; the cost of this project; the tolling regime which will be in place; if the proposed heavy goods vehicles management strategy is ready; the measures being considered to prevent congestion on the M50 in this context; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As, in accordance with my decision of October 2004, the height of the DPT is not being increased and as the implementation of individual national road improvement projects is a matter for the NRA and the local authority concerned rather than my Department, the completion of the Dublin Port tunnel as designed, the implementation of a HGV traffic management strategy to coincide with the opening of the tunnel and other related issues, are matters for the NRA and Dublin City Council.
