Questions (141)

Niall Blaney

Question:

225 Mr. Blaney asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children if her attention has been drawn to the fact that the Health Service Executive north-west area has accepted that there is a bed shortage crisis at Letterkenny General Hospital, which they hope to ease with the opening of an 11-bed oncology ward in the near future, whilst they are also looking at another project to increase bed capacity on an interim ward; if funding will be made available for the capital and revenue costs involved for this project; and if she will make a statement on the matter. The Deputy's question relates to the management and delivery of health and personal social services, which are the responsibility of the Health Service Executive under the Health Act 2004. Accordingly, the Department of Health and Children has asked the parliamentary affairs division of the HSE to arrange to have the matter investigated and for a reply to issue directly to the Deputy.
