View answerThe Renewable Energy Feed-in Tariff programme (REFIT), which was launched on 1st May last, is designed to support the construction of new renewable energy powered electricity generating plants using proven technologies. The programme imposes maximum prices by technology upon which compensation to participating suppliers will be calculated. It is a matter for project developers to determine whether the price levels available deliver sufficient returns to meet the costs of any particular project.
