1070 Mr. Connolly asked the Minister for Transport if legislation will be introduced to make hazard warning lights mandatory at road work sites to ensure motorists’ safety; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29334/06]

Under section 95 of the Road Traffic Act 1961 the provision of any traffic sign, regulatory or non-regulatory, is the responsibility of the individual road authority. The Act provides that a road authority may provide for public roads in their charge such information and warning signs as they consider desirable.
