199 Mr. J. O’Keeffe asked the Minister for Health and Children if her attention has been drawn to the fact that inadequate funding is available to deal with the situation of persons who are profoundly deaf and who require either ear implants or upgrades of same; and if she will ensure that such funding is made available in order that the four year waiting lists will be eliminated and the service provided when required. The Deputy's question relates to the management and delivery of health and personal social services. Accordingly, my Department has requested the Parliamentary Affairs Division of the Health Service Executive to have the matter investigated and to have a reply issued directly to the Deputy.
