Question:

244 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Finance when a decision will be made on the application made by a person (details supplied) in County Cork for the primary medical certificate for a disabled driver in view of the fact that a decision was made to refuse but an independent appeal was lodged against the decision to refuse in November 2006 but the person has heard nothing since. As the Deputy is aware, the Disabled Drivers Medical Board of Appeal, which determines appeals from a refusal of a Primary Medical Certificate under the Disabled Drivers and Disabled Passengers (Tax Concessions) Scheme, is independent in the execution of its functions. Queries in respect of the appeal should be addressed by the person concerned to the Secretary to the Board, Disabled Drivers Medical Board of Appeal, c/o National Rehabilitation Hospital, Rochestown Avenue, Dun Laoghaire, County Dublin, telephone: 01-2355279.
