323 Deputy Ulick Burke asked the Minister for Transport if, under Transport 21, funds are available for the construction and completion of the N18 motorway, Oranmore to Gort, within the promised timescale; and if the political undertaking for the provision of a second entry and exit to the town of Gort will be provided for in the design of the scheme. As Minister for Transport I have responsibility for overall policy and funding in relation to the national roads programme element of Transport 21. As the Deputy is aware, the implementation of individual national road projects including their design, is a matter for the National Roads Authority (NRA) under the Roads Act, 1993 in conjunction with the local authorities concerned.
