147 Deputy Lucinda Creighton asked the Taoiseach if the programme for Government has been or will be revised on the basis of the ERSI report published on 25 June 2008 stating that Ireland is entering a recession for the first time in 25 years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Much progress has already been achieved in fulfilling the commitments in the Programme for Government. Obviously, the Government must take decisions in the light of the fiscal situation which will be indicated on publication of the half yearly Exchequer returns to-morrow. We will then give priority to those Programme commitments which are most valuable from a social and economic perspective and can realistically be achieved in view of the present budgetary situation. I intend to publish a progress report on the implementation of the Programme for Government by the end of the summer.
