217 Deputy Joan Burton asked the Minister for Finance if he has taken action or put in place measures to effect the discontinuance of the arrangement whereby former Ministers are paid ministerial pensions while they are still Members of the Oireachtas, as announced by him in his 7 April 2009 budget speech; when he expects this measure to take effect; and if he will make a statement on the matter. It will be necessary to change the relevant legislation to give effect to this measure. My Department is in consultation with the Office of the Attorney General on the matter.
