1202 Deputy Ruairí Quinn asked the Minister for Education and Science when a school building project (details supplied) in County Mayo will commence; if his attention has been drawn to the fact that he turned the sod at this site in advance of the local elections in 2008; and if he will make a statement on the matter. View answerThe project for the school referred to by the Deputy has been approved to progress to tender and construction and is currently at an advanced stage of architectural planning.
A stage 2B submission has been received by my Department and is currently being considered. A contract notice seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified contractors has been published on the State's e-tenders website and short-listing of contractors has commenced.
I am pleased to inform the Deputy that this project is progressing towards tender and construction.
