504 Deputy Róisín Shortall asked the Minister for Social and Family Affairs the reason a split child benefit payment cannot be accommodated in the circumstances where estranged parents have joint custody of a child; the specific statutory provision which sets down that the payment must be provided to the mother in these circumstances; her views on whether this is consistent with equality legislation; if she will intervene in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Donegal to ensure that a split payment is provided; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
