693 Deputy John O’Donoghue asked the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if a new district superintendent will be assigned to County Kerry in view of the backlog of REP scheme payments due to farmers in view of the fact that it is mainly as a result of the post remaining vacant for some time; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As the Deputy will be aware there is a moratorium on recruitment and promotion in the public service. My Department has been seeking to put in place alternative arrangements to ensure the prompt processing of claims.
