Question:115 Deputy Denis Naughten asked the Minister for Health and Children when neonatal audiology screening will commence; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [45447/10]
View answerThe Health Service Executive is continuing to work on the development of a programme for the introduction of newborn hearing screening under the remit of the National Audiology Review Group. Planning and implementation work is currently underway using development funding provided in 2010. On this basis, Universal Newborn Hearing Screening is projected to commence in 2011 and, subject to resources, proposals for its roll out are expected to form part of the HSE's national service plan for next year.
