Written answers

When staff avail of maternity and other leave (such as paternal leave, study leave, force majeure), the resultant vacated posts remain unfilled.

Since the introduction of the embargo, the number of staff in my Department has been reduced from 517.78 Whole Time Equivalents in 2009 to 495.51 Whole Time Equivalents at end-2010. This number does not include staff on maternity leave, as the posts of such staff are not counted as vacant posts.
