26 Deputy Kevin Humphreys asked the Minister for Defence if he will consider changing the regulations governing the Defence Forces to allow qualified other ranks or enlisted personnel, such as those with solicitor qualifications, to use these qualifications within the forces; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I thank the Deputy for his suggestion. Obviously this is a complex issue in relation to qualifications, terms and conditions of employment and available appointments within the Defence Forces. However, I will have the matter examined and will revert to the Deputy in due course.
