706 Deputy Seán Kenny asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the number of taxi enforcement officers in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and to date in 2012; if this number will be increased; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9700/12]
View answerThe co-ordination of the enforcement of regulation of the taxi industry is the overall responsibility of the National Transport Authority (NTA), in collaboration with the Garda Síochána. I have referred the Deputy's request to the NTA so that the information sought can be forwarded to him directly. The position in regard to enforcement in the small public service vehicles (SPSV) sector was examined during the recent review of the taxi industry — see section 3.5 of the Taxi Regulation Review Report, which is available on my Department's website.
