141 Deputy Denis Naughten asked the Minister for Health the reason a person (details supplied) in County Roscommon who is over 70 years of age and whose only income is social welfare has been refused a full medical card and only granted a general practitioner visit card; and if he will make a statement on the matter. If a person has been refused a medical card they can lodge an appeal within 21 days. Details of the appeals process are forwarded to the applicant with their refusal letter. As this refusal of a medical card renewal is a service matter, I have referred it to the Health Service Executive for direct reply to the Deputy.
