The Reception and Integration Agency of the Department of Justice and Equality is responsible for the operation of the direct provision system in accordance with Government policy. RIA is staffed by 27 persons plus 1 person seconded from the Department of Education and Skills, and 2 persons seconded from the Irish Prison Service.

In terms of Department of Justice and Equality staff within RIA, the total pay element for 2011 was €1,656,077, including pension contributions. The total operating costs for the administration of RIA in 2011 for(including pay above) was just over €2m.

The Deputy will be aware that the Office of Public Works (OPW) has responsibility for the provision of office space for Government Departments and Agencies. Therefore, this Department does not have a breakdown of the cost of renting office space for the Reception and Integration Agency.
