Within the Department from 2009 to date the combined impact of staff reductions and restructuring saw a fall of 35% in the senior management grades. This streamlined the organisational and management structure of the Department to the extent that the filling of four management posts by internal promotion were negotiated and sanctioned by the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform in 2010 and a further one post in 2011 to ensure the Department has the absolute minimum required to carry out its programme functions.
The details sought on the five internal promotions are set out in the table below. The total annual increase in salaries from these promotions is in the region of €24,000. There were no additional acting up or temporary allowances paid in my Department since 27 March 2009.
