Deputy Denis Naughten asked the Minister for Health if he will outline the number of general practitioners who had a benzodiazepine prescribing regime which was greater than that of the standardised national profile as developed by PCRS as indicated in its report to GPs in January 2012; the corresponding figures for the second snapshot of benzodiazepine claims circulated to GPs in 2012 and to date in 2013; when the subsequent snapshots were generated and circulated; the total saving to date as a result of this snapshot prescribing comparison; the specific steps which have been taken to deal with persistent outliers, the numbers involved, and the total cost of benzodiazepine prescribing in such cases; and if he will make a statement on the matter.
