A total quantity of 142,119,673 mls of methadone was dispensed through Community Pharmacies in 2013 for palliative care and for the treatment of opiate dependency, at a total cost of €12,299,903.

The Health Service Executive is responsible for the methadone dispensed through the HSE clinics for the treatment of opiate dependency. The HSE has therefore been asked to examine this matter and to communicate directly with the Deputy as soon as possible with this information. If you have not received a reply from the HSE within 15 working days please contact my Private Office and they will follow up the matter with them.
