1182. Deputy Michael McCarthy asked the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport the position regarding a sports capital grant in respect of a group (details supplied) in County Cork; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22206/15]
View answerThe club referred to by the Deputy submitted a valid application under the 2014 Sports Capital Programme. A total of 2,036 applications were received under the Programme seeking €160 million in funding. €40.5 million was allocated to 880 separate projects.
Given the level of demand for funding and the amount of funding available under the programme, it was unfortunately not possible to allocate grants to every eligible applicant.
It is noted that the club has submitted an application under the 2015 Sports Capital Programme.
